A Jazzy 4th of July

AUTHOR: Jessa

Our last post was all about a wedding planner’s ’special’ take on summer fun…on that note, our 4th of July was certainly out of the ordinary.
Concerto Sting 4 luglio 2009 (Medium)
At 8.30 AM last Saturday, we were already hard at work transforming a  medieval castle’s dining hall into a retro jazz lounge! Together with our Los Angeles-based friends (and design wizards) from Revelry Event Designers, we spent the day covering cold stone walls with plush red drapery and exchanging cast-iron candelabras for glittery chandeliers.

The final result of our combined efforts was truly worthy of a world-class jazz concert, and thanks to trumpeter Chris Botti and his troupe of talented musicians, that’s what the lucky guests got.  With revelers perched on sleek,  silvery chaise lounges and waiters flitting around with trays of bubbly, our jazz lounge officially reached VIP status when none other than international superstar STING took the the stage! The small crowd was understandably quite surprised and warmly appreciative of the crooner’s self-proclaimed first-ever wedding performance…even Sting’s wife, Trudie Styler, took to the stage to sing a bit of harmony on ‘Every Breath You Take.’

The jazz lounge was a stylish, smashing success…and we won’t soon forget this year’s 4th of July!

UPDATE: Original post erroneously named Mr. Botti’s instrument.  Thanks to Calli Coho for being sharp as a tack!

I love the plain draperies with the sparkling chandeliers.
    Extremely elegant, great job!

Um, the amazing Chris Botti plays the trumpet…NOT the saxophone!

I am seeking some info on Alto Saxaphones and I’ve just come across this blog! A good read which I enjoyed and found to be of use. I look forward to allow myself the opportunity to stay longer.
